I was recently referenced to a book by a friend entitled “The Shack” . I had heard some reviews before about the book and was planning on going to check out at the library or buying at Borders. I visited the Website for the book and saw some impressive reviews, which only led to my excitement of getting the book.
However, after further researching the book I found some startling information…
Many Christian pastors (in fact rather prominent pastors) were denouncing the book as “heretical” and “extremely misleading. I stumbled upon this article by Chuck Colson. (click on the link for the premise and Colson’s article.)
I was shocked to discover this about this story. Pastors like James Macdonald and Pastor Bob Botsford [Horizon Christian Fellowship] have been very critical of the book, claiming it has “distorted the image of GOD” and given people “a false sense of what The Trinity really is” … They also say that “though it portrays message of ‘redemption’, it has deep theological holes…”
So stay away from “The Shack”! It is very easy to be buy into the ideas that this guy is offering… so please don’t harm your own mind by reading it. I cannot recommend this book to anyone, because of these rather important theological shifts that Young is bringing up. If you are reading it please consider the above articles before doing so!

So again, if you are planning on reading it, don’t, and let others know as well … we want to uphold the name of GOD in a very true and honest way, to preach the Gospel as proclaimed through His Word and His Word alone!
